Knjiga Ako jedne zimske noći neki putnik Itala Calvina sastoji se od nekoliko zasebnih priča umetnutih u glavnu knjigu/radnju. S obzirom da se ona izravno obraća čitatelju, ta glavna, 'meta' knjiga oblikovana je bez klasičnih knjiški elementi poput paginacije, uvlake paragrafa, ili pak naslovnice, a za sam tekst je korišteno sans pismo. Umetnute knjige-poglavlja oblikovane su svaka za sebe i sukladno sa sadržajem. Svaka ima svoju naslovnicu, poleđinu, drugačiji layout, papir i tipografiju. Cilj je bio sugerirati da se knjige kao objekti ne razlikuju samo u dimenzijama i naslovnici, već puno više u donekle suptilnim elementima (margine, papir, tipografija…), njihovim rasporedima i kombinacijama.

Since the book If on a winters night a traveller by Italo Calvino consists of several separate stories inserted into the main book, which speaks directly to the reader (as a sort of demystification of the book as a medium), I decided to design that part with none of the classic book elements like pagination or paragraph indents, a proper cover... and for the body text I used a sans serif typeface. Each ‘inserted’ book is actually a part of a corresponding chapter, and they are all designed differently from each other, and also from the main part of the book. Each has its own cover, different layout, paper and a different typeface. This suggests that books as objects differ much more in subtle elements like margins, paper, typeface... their arrangement and combinations then only in the dimensions and the look of the cover.
